A 5-minute guide to the SuperSync15

Published on September 2, 2024 by Emma Price

If you’re searching for a premium, industrial-grade, intelligent and fast USB hub that will let you connect, manage and charge your devices quickly, reliably and safely; the SuperSync15 has you covered.

Here’s your 5-minute guide to the SuperSync15 and what makes it the ideal USB hub for your mobile device provisioning and software testing requirements.

What is the SuperSync15?

The SuperSync15 is an industrial-grade, premium, smart USB hub with fifteen downstream USB-A ports for up to 5 Gbps delivery across each port. Its heat-resistant, compact, quiet and space-saving design is easy to install on any desk, wall or cabinet.

It’s the fastest USB based hub we offer, before stepping up to our ThunderSync range. We absolutely guarantee uniform charging of 2.1A at 10W per port and across all 15 ports simultaneously; unlike other USB-hubs on the market.

Utilise the SuperSync15’s extra intelligence through our Cambrionix Connect software for USB hub management and individual port control. Scale your mobile device processing by connecting additional SuperSync15’s to provision, charge and test more mobile devices at the same time. It’s your complete solution for any testing, charging or provisioning needs and even boasts lifetime technical support alongside your 2-year manufacture warranty.

Can I use all 15 ports of the SuperSync15 without performance degradation?

The charging on our SuperSync15 hub is uniform, meaning we guarantee the charging power of 2.1A at 10W per port and across all ports, in ‘charge only’ mode. If you are in ‘sync’ mode then the SuperSync15 will guarantee 1.5A at 7.5W per port and across all ports.

When it comes to syncing or transferring files, the performance of the SuperSync15 (and all other USB hubs on the market) hub is dependent on the age/type of the mobile devices you have connected.

This is because of USB end-point limitations. Essentially, the newer the mobile device, the more complex they are and the more USB end-points they use. If you find devices are not visible on your USB ports or they appear and disappear intermittently, then you are likely hitting an end-point limit. You can check the endpoint limitations of the SuperSync15 and compare with the mobile devices you test with by checking the SuperSync15 user manual here.

Using our SuperSync15 USB hub, you will be able to connect the following amount of devices, through a standard USB host controller. It is possible to connect more devices and hubs, but as a baseline, the following number of devices should always be possible to connect at one time;

DeviceMaximum number of devices connected via USB 2Number of USB hubs requiredMaximum number of devices connected via USB 3Number of USB hubs required
iPhone 15151N/AN/A
Google Pixel 6433282
iPhone 13151N/AN/A
Samsung S2015191
OPPO X2 LITE433N/AN/A
Xiaomi Redmi 9AT433N/AN/A
iPad Mini (6th Gen)151N/AN/A
iPad (10th Gen)151N/AN/A
Where the table shows N/A (not available), this is because we’ve identified that the mobile device itself does NOT support that version of USB. For example, the iPhone 15 only supports USB 2 and the maximum number of endpoints is 8, giving a total number of 15 devices connected to the SuperSync15 before reaching USB’s endpoint limit.

Note: Our ThunderSync range of USB hubs exists to remove USB endpoint limitations entirely by utilising Thunderbolt technology. If speed and managing a larger number of mobile devices is essential, then take a look at our ThunderSync3-C10 and ThunderSync3-16.

Is it okay to daisy chain USB hubs?

Yes. You can daisy chain USB hubs. For the SuperSync15, we recommend a star topology configuration instead of daisy chaining. In this method, you have one central parent hub connected to a host computer and around four child hubs connected to the parent hub. This offers the benefit of better bandwidth and minimises the impact of USB endpoint limitations.

Why is the SuperSync15 the best choice for you?

The SuperSync15 is our fastest USB hubs available. So even if you’re working with USB-C devices, you might choose this USB hub if your existing test set up doesn’t have a host PC with Thunderbolt capability, or you have a lot of USB-A cables already lying around, or if super-fast data syncing isn’t a requirement for your mobile device management set-up. The SuperSync15 allows you to save costs without skimping on build quality or features, all while meeting your data transfer needs. Our customers love the reliability, charging uniformity and premium nature of our SuperSync15 versus other comparable products.

Don’t take that on faith either; huge tech giants you know and love have hundreds of these hubs deployed within a single test environment, running 24/7 and have for years.

But what about cheaper alternatives?

We’re not the cheapest USB-A hub out there and for good reason. We have a lot to offer versus other USB hubs. For one, the SuperSync15 is remotely manageable with guaranteed firmware updates and technical support for the product’s lifetime so you’ll never be cut loose to fend for yourself after investing in a Cambrionix hub.

Next, many alternative USB hubs can’t meet their power claims; only offering the claimed full charging speed over a restricted number of ports, so be sure to read the small print and check the size of the PSU (power supply unit) provided. In contrast, we openly guarantee our charging speeds over every port. You can see the size of our 180 Watt PSU verses the size of the SuperSync15; we don’t skimp on power.

Furthermore, the SuperSync15 is designed and manufactured in Britain to all USA, UK and EU standards. That’s important as we’ve seen failed EMC tests and other compliance issues with cheaper hubs in our own labs and through anecdotal feedback from clients.

I don’t want to charge my devices. Can I still transfer data?

No. Sync without charge isn’t a thing. USB needs power transfer to have data transfer. But don’t worry about overcharging your devices. The SuperSync15 has intelligent charging that keeps this from happening and you can use our Cambrionix Connect software to set % power charge limits for each mobile device that is connected.

Hopefully, you’re coming away from this guide with complete clarity around the SuperSync15 – what it does and why it’s a great option for your mobile device management operation.
